Our trip with GCSE History students to Berlin was a huge success and an amazing experience for all of us. We stayed in a great apartment close to central Berlin and spent our days exploring Berlin's place in 20th century history as well as its architecture. On the first full day we visited the Holocaust Memorial and Museum, a profoundly moving experience conducted in almost complete silence. We also explored the area around the Reichstag, Potsdamer Platz and Berlin Central Station. On the second full day we took in the Berlin Wall Memorial site, the Cold War Spy Museum and East Side Gallery where street art adorns a 1km length of the old Berlin Wall. The whole trip was not only an educational eye opener but also something of a rite of passage for the students, as well as a real bonding experience for the class. As always the students behaved impeccably throughout and we look forward to taking future classes on a similar journey. Some images from the trip can be found on the Photo Gallery page.
